The city buses in Saigon are secret treasures for visitors who want to get to know and feel (and maybe smell) Vietnam.

That’s where you can travel above (and a bit away from) the fumes of a million motorbikes (usually in air-conditioned comfort).

Get your magnifying glass and find your way! You can also buy bus route maps in many book stores in District 1 (be sure that the map includes Bus Routes – “Xe Buýt“.)
And that’s where you can reach most any destination in the city for about 25 cents (US)!

And during the ride you’re likely to be asked to help a student practice his or her English, help an older woman get on or off the bus with a 50 pound basket of fruit or dried fish, and again, maybe get a proposal of marriage!
REMEMBER, the city buses are all NON-SMOKING buses (except of course for the bus drivers!)
