Three years away from Saigon’s amazing street food!
But, now we’re back!
Clearly, it's family reunion time!
(and it’s time to eat . . .)
But where should we go for our first meal back in town?
Well, Sister #4 is a vegetarian. And Hai has been talking a lot lately about slowly converting to vegetarianism (is that a word?). And we were just told by a good friend that our favorite Saigon vegetarian restaurant just opened a new location in Saigon’s District 2.
Easy decision – off we go!
Quite the beautiful restaurant.
Sophisticated works of art. Tasteful dinnerware. Nice tables! And yet, a children’s play area in the open-aired center of the restaurant. Interesting combination!
And quite amazing food.
A delicious “western” salad with fresh ripe figs & burrata cheese served over fresh baby greens. (As good as any salad served in the San Francisco Bay Area – or maybe even Rome).
Crispy, deep-fried spring roll squares filled with an amazing combination of mushroom flavors. One of our favorite spring rolls ever!
Soft, rich discs of fresh tofu served with a green-peppered sauce. A special flavor treat, for sure.
Brown rice, vegetable medley of mushrooms, lotus seeds, and more, wrapped in lotus leaves. “Quiet”, but delicious!
And for our grand finale, the chef (Hai’s good friend) treated us to … hom Restaurant’s signature pink mushroom hot pot served with lá é – a special herb from central Vietnam and green jelly made from lá sương sâm! An EXCELLENT FINALE to an amazing first-meal-back!!
